Back At Brands

NGRRC F125

After a dry practice on Friday, Saturday morning was damp which meant I was caught out by the conditions and went down during the warm up at Paddock Hill Bend.

Fortunately I was able to get back out on the spare bike and was ready for the races, by this time it was very wet.

The 600 qualifying race was first up and after a bad start I was able to make my way through the pack to finish in fourth place ready for the final.

Next was the Sound of Thunder qualifier and after a much better start I got some clear space, enjoyed a few good laps and finished in a strong second place.

Coming into the finals, the track was drying but still not dry enough for dry tyres. First up was the 600’s and this time I managed a great start and by the end of the first lap I was fighting for the lead. 11 laps and a few close moments later, I finished in second place.

It was then time for the Sound of Thunder and with the track continuing to dry, the speeds were getting faster and faster. I got the holeshot into turn one and after leading for most of the race, got pipped to the post on the last lap and again ended up in second place.

Sunday was a much dryer day and after a slightly damp warm up, we were ready to go in sunny conditions.

The 600 race was made difficult due to clutch issues and after a bad start in the final, I fought through from fourteenth to sixth place and came away second in the championship.

I had qualified fourth for The Sound of Thunder and after more clutch issues I was in thirteenth place on the first lap. I fought my way through into the lead with two laps to go and held a second gap to take the win.

It was another great weekend and was even better to finish off with a win. Now I am looking forward to the BSB test and Brands and Snetterton this week.
